Brennan is a creative problem solver who handles every kind of criminal case from speeding tickets and DWI to capital murder and criminal appeals. He knows that every case requires a unique approach to find the best way to protect his clients. Brennan knows that sometimes you win a case with a hammer and sometimes you need a softer approach.
He has tried over a hundred criminal bench trials and dozens of jury trials. He often focuses his practice on clients facing drug trafficking, embezzlement, theft, possession of firearm by a felon, and driving while impaired offenses.
Before private practice, he began his career as a Guilford County Assistant Public Defender in 2012, fighting for clients who often face both racial and socioeconomic barriers to equal access to justice. Before opening his own firm with Julie, Brennan worked at the law firm of Garrett, Walker, Aycoth, & Olson. When he isn’t at the office, Brennan spends time with his wife cooking New Orleans food, and trying (poorly) to play blues guitar with his Great Dane mix, Louis.

Julie learned early in her career that she enjoyed practicing law best when she was helping individuals. She has been a trial attorney from the day she was sworn to practice law in 2004, spending the majority of her workday in the courtroom. Julie tries District Court bench trials weekly and has substantial experience in jury trials handling both criminal defense and personal injury cases. She knows that each case needs an approach specific to the client’s needs and she loves identifying what a “win” looks like for each one.
Julie believes in a teamwork focused approach to representing clients. She educates her clients on the processes and makes sure they have all the tools they need to make decisions that are client-driven. She recognizes that every case belongs to her clients and that when the case is resolved, the outcomes are theirs to manage. This philosophy guides her as she helps each client navigate our complex legal system.
Julie’s fluency in Spanish gives her the special ability to communicate directly with her many Spanish-speaking clients who frequently express how much easier it is to speak in their native language directly with their attorney.
Before opening Aberle & Wall with Brennan, Julie ran her own successful litigation practice for over 11 years. When she is not practicing law, she can be found hiking, kayaking and camping with her daughter, Amelia and her dog, Rosie.
