How can I check if I have a court date coming up? What is my file number?

There is two ways to figure out if you have court. The first way is checking Odyssey, NC Courts, AOC, this is what it is commonly referred as.

> Go to nccourts.gov > Find “Portal” and click on “Search” > Click Smart Search

You can find your case(s) by entering your name in this format Last, First Middle. You can also enter your case number and if you have multiple you can only search one up at a time.

But where can I find my case number? Great question! If you were arrested you usually will have a File Number or Case Number. You can find this on the paperwork you were given by the arresting officer or the Magistrate Judge. Usually you should be given a paper that says “Magistrates Order” and you’ll have a file number right above that. If you were arrested in 2025 it will look something like 25CR#####-400. If you were arrested in 2026 it would say 26CR######-400. The -400 just means that your case is in Guilford County.
